1. Transnet’s loco procurement may cost R35bn, Minister says

Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba has indicated that the procurement of 1 064 new locomotives by State-owned freight logistics group Transnet could cost about R35-billion.He told lawmakers this week that, during the next quarter, Transnet would begin implementing a seven-year locomotive fleet procurement of “unprecedented scale in South Africa’s history”.
