The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Wednesday defended its decision to exclude certain steel products from the government’s preferential procurement regulations, which came into effect in December.Government designated sectors such as rolling stock and power pylons for local production with local content thresholds, but decided not to give preference to domestically produced steel.
