Infosys today announced the expansion of its service offerings in Australie through the acquisition ofPortland Group, a leading provider of strategic sourcing and category management services. Portland Group is being acquired by Infosys BPO Limited, the business process outsourcing subsidiary of Infosys Limited.
Portland Group was founded in 1999 and counts several large ASX 200 organizations as clients. It is headquartered in Sydney and has offices in Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth.
Swami Swaminathan, CEO and MD, Infosys BPO said the deal adds an outstanding team of domain specialists to Infosys BPO in Australia and will significantly deepen their capabilities and domain expertise in our Sourcing and Procurement practice. He said it will strengthen the top-end of their service offering in the strategic sourcing and category management functions.
Gavin Solsky, CEO of Portland Group believes the combination of Portland Group and Infosys will offer clients a proposition that does not currently exist in the sourcing and procurement services market in Australia.
Portland Group's expertise in strategic sourcing and category management services should complement Infosys BPO's Sourcing & Procurement capabilities wider than just in Australia. This transaction will grow the Infosys BPO team in Austrlia with 113 professionals.
The the deal is valued at AUD 37 million and is expected to be completed by early January 2012.
